The Kharkiv Airlift was an event that happened in 1947 within the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. It involved American planes intruding into Soviet airspace to drop supplies onto the Ukrainian SSR. This angered the Soviet Union, who still had their pride wounded from their loss in the Great Soviet War. It is generally considered to be the inciting incident for the War of Ideologies.
